CHILD SAFETY

Child safety standards

JiraniChat is for people aged 18 and over. We do not allow child sexual abuse or exploitation of any kind.

What is not allowed

JiraniChat prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form, including images, text or AI-generated content.
  • Grooming, or trying to contact a child for sexual purposes.
  • Sexualising children, or sextortion or trafficking of children.
  • Sharing, asking for or linking to any such material.

How to report it

  • In the app: tap the three dots on a message or post, or in your one-to-one chat with the person, choose Report, then choose Child safety as the reason. You can also block them. To report a whole group, tap the flag at the top of its page.
  • By email: write to [email protected] with the subject "Child safety", and include the person's name or the group, and what you saw.

If a child is in immediate danger, call the police or your local emergency number first. In Tanzania you can also call the national child helpline on 116.

What we do

  • Our staff review reports through our moderation queue, and treat child safety reports as the highest priority.
  • We remove material that breaks these standards and close the accounts responsible.
  • We report child sexual abuse material and exploitation to the relevant authorities, and we cooperate with lawful requests from them, as the law requires.

Protections in the app

  • JiraniChat is intended for people aged 18 and over, and everyone confirms their age when creating an account.
  • Availability is off by default, so nobody can find you or start a new chat with you until you turn it on.
  • Exact locations are never shown to other people.
  • You can report a person, message, post, comment or group, and block a person.

Compliance and contact

We comply with applicable child safety laws in the places we operate. Our child safety contact is Dali Data Africa, at [email protected].
